Program Description:
Maryland Rx Card is the free statewide prescription assistance program available to all Maryland residents. The program was launched in June 2009 to help uninsured and underinsured Marylanders afford prescription medications. The program is also useful to residents who need a non-covered medication or have a high deductible insurance plan. There are no restrictions, no age or income requirements, no waiting periods and no enrollment forms to fill out.
Maryland Rx Card is in partnership with the following organizations: The Maryland State Medical Society (MedChi), The Maryland Academy of Physician Assistants, Maryland Society of Accountants, Maryland Association of Realtors, Maryland Association of Osteopathic Physicians, Prince George's County Medical Society, and Baltimore City Medical Society. Maryland Rx Card also works with several hospitals, physician clinics, health departments and urgent care clinics throughout the state in an effort to create awareness and provide channels of distribution.
This free program provides savings of up to 75% on most generic and brand medications. The program is completely confidential and all cards are pre-activated and do not expire. Marylanders unable to obtain a hard card can visit any Safeway or Giant pharmacy and simply ask to have their prescriptions processed through the Maryland Rx Card. The program is also accepted at Martin's, CVS/pharmacy, Kmart, Harris Teeter, Super Fresh, Target, Walgreens, along with 56,000 other participating pharmacies nationwide.
